MAGICO

Magico is designed from the measurements and one photo under saddle, of the real Andalusian stallion, ‘Magico’.

‘Magico’ was a beautiful stallion that Nigel used to shoe in the U.K. and is Nigel’s favourite breed of horse.

Magico weighs approximately 550-600kg and everything you see has been hand cut, hot forged, shaped by hand and welded by Nigel.

It took nearly 600 hours over a 6 month period to build.

The making of Magico.

Magico was created with:

213 old farrier rasps

102 old half round blacksmiths files

5 1/2 meters of scaffolding pipe

1 1/2 square meters of chainmail

1 1/2 square meters of 3mm steel plate

6 bike chains

4 feet of 5inch 3mm pipe

24 meters of 25 x 3mm flat steel bar

8 meters of galvanised rope

2 bike gear wheels

Numerous forged concave horseshoe lengths, flat and round section

The sculpture has an inner frame and supports on his legs. The whole is on a stand which has wheels, to enable manoeuvrability.

The inside of his body has been rust proofed and painted with three layers of black metal anti-rust paint. After the build was complete, he was sandblasted before rustproofing the outside with a professional oil and clear varnish.

Magico is currently for sale.
